Madi and the Math teacher
Madi is a talented twenty-something. She usually plays guitar for Sunday services and is going to university majoring in engineering.
Unfortunately, Madi and calculus were having relationship issues. She is a bright girl, but she had a test looming and there were a number of concepts she just didn’t understand.
Still, she came to the worksite to work alongside the team and help translate since she speaks excellent English and is eager to practice and meet new people.
David was on the team. He is a university math professor and all-around good guy. We knew David from a previous trip. He’s the kind of guy who isn’t above any job. If a floor needs washed, that’s what he does. He’s always the first to clear off the table so others don’t have to do it, and his self-assigned job is coffee maker so that everyone else who gets up can have a cup of hot deliciousness first thing in the morning.
Madi and David met, and one of their first conversations when she learned that he was a math professor was about her imminent failure in calculus. It was very concerning to her, but she really didn’t see a way out of it even though she was putting a lot of time into studying.
David told her to bring her book the next day, and they spent the rest of the week like this:
It was yet another cool example of God’s resources. He brought Madi a tutor all the way from the US.
